The Story of Rangatiratanga, Eru Kapa Kingi

Eru Kapa Kingi

Eru Kapa-Kingi is an emerging leader in te ao Māori, known for his academic work and activism. At 28, he helped lead one of Aotearoa’s largest public demonstrations and continues to challenge institutions to engage meaningfully in decolonisation.

In his presentation, Eru reminded us that we are a people, not a race — tracing our story back to Hawaiki and anchoring it in the truth and power of Rangatiratanga. His kōrero was a powerful call to centre identity, whakapapa, and collective leadership in the journey ahead.
