Te Kaupapa
Te Kaupapa is a by Māori, for Māori mental health and addictions service funded by Te Whatu Ora and endorsed by 11 Māori providers, including three iwi organisations, across Tāmaki Makaurau, Counties Manukau, and Waikato. Managed by the National Hauora Coalition, it employs 58 FTE, including 54 kaimahi practitioners who provide holistic, whānau-led care grounded in mātauranga Māori.
The presentation was done by a selected few from the collective. It was led by Ashleigh Latimer, who shared the whakapapa of the service and the meaning behind the collective’s logo. Jamie Downs spoke humorously about the pūtōrino and its role in connecting rangatahi, wāhine, and tāne with Atua. Also featured was a kaimahi from Waiariki Whānau Mentoring, who shared his testimony as someone once “hard to reach” in the community and now helping to deliver the service.
